About this Form:
Form 1099-Q, Payments from Qualified Education Programs, is an IRS information return used to report distributions from qualified tuition programs, commonly known as 529 plans, and Coverdell Education Savings Accounts.
The form identifies the recipient and beneficiary of the distribution and reports the total amount distributed, earnings, basis, and whether the distribution was made directly to an educational institution. It is generally prepared by the program administrator, trustee, or other organization responsible for the education savings account or qualified tuition program.
Recipients may use the information reported on Form 1099-Q when reviewing whether distributions were used for qualified education expenses. Documents Helper provides this form for educational and preparation purposes only. We do not submit Form 1099-Q to the IRS or any other organization.
